A day of celebration (think spring). In Finland, it is known as Vappu, in Sweden Valborg’s Mass Eve. Complimentary hot dogs, sima (think of mead), doughnuts (munkki), and coffee. Wine and beer available for purchase. There will be children games, adult games, a tug of war between the Swedes and Finns, and a sing-a-long besides the traditional fire, albeit a fairly small one. It will be a laid back time to socialize and have fun. Rain or shine, we will be there.

A Finnish Carnival: Vappu is the Memorial Day of Saint Labor, holiday of spring and university students and also the workers international festival and demonstration day. It has been celebrated in Finland since 1890, and, in addition, in many countries it has been paid day-off since 1918.
